Orthologous Cross-Species MicroarraysThe new field of toxicogenomics, may save pharmaceutical companies millions of dollars and several years by improving the toxicological characterization of compounds before they reach human clinical trials. This transcriptomics approach to drug development has an added advantage of reducing animal use in research since safety biomarkers can be developed to predict toxicological outcome of drug candidates prior to large scale animal studies. Our VisionTo develop high-throughput genomics technologies that will enable the exploitation of genetic information for pre-clinical applications. Our technology aims to improve the predictive accuracy of animal models to humans in the development of pharmaceuticals; in so doing this should reduce the attrition rate of drug candidates failing during clinical trials and lead to improvements with regard to both speed and cost of drug development. |
